Required Policies Kit.

Draft, adopt, and put into practice the governance policies a nonprofit is expected and sometimes required to hold, so they protect you in a conflict or a complaint rather than being missing when you need them.

In Register and Adopt the Policies. Adopting these is a board act.

PolicyWhat it doesDrafted / Adopted / Routine set
Conflict-of-interest, with annual disclosureBoard and staff disclose interests and step back where they benefit; every insider transaction goes through it first
WhistleblowerLets someone report wrongdoing without retaliation, through a named, safe channel
Document retention and destructionSays how long you keep records and when you destroy them, which matters for audits and legal matters
Gift acceptanceSets what gifts you will and will not accept, so a complicated gift does not create a liability

A policy on a shelf that no one follows protects no one. The value is in the routine each one sets up: the annual disclosure, the safe report, the retention schedule. A staff member cannot adopt them on the organization’s behalf.
