Funder Prospect Research Worksheet.

Build a real list of funders who plausibly fund organizations like yours, so you stop chasing famous names that never fund your kind of work.

The third step of getting grant-ready, after you are ready and eligible. Split foundation prospects from government programs, because the approach and the work differ.

Where to look: public funder records and tax filings, the funders listed by peer organizations doing similar work, community foundations in your area, government grant listings for your field, and your own board members knowledge. Board is often your best source; ask them.
