Set a shared, written bar with each person, because no one can meet an expectation they cannot see, and most performance problems begin unspoken.
Write it down, and both keep a copy, so later conversations point to the same thing rather than to memory. If you cannot write the expectation clearly, the person cannot meet it clearly. The work of making it clear is yours before it is theirs.
