Two numbers decide more of your fundraising than any feeling does: how many of last year's donors gave again, and how much of your money rides on a few people. Calculate them here, then check them against an honest read.
Most leaders guess high. Where the number you calculate is worse than the one you hoped for, trust the number.
Your retention rate: fill both
A rate under about 45 percent means a serious leak, and retention work comes first. Around 45 to 65 percent is common and still worth fixing. Above 65 percent is healthy.
Your single largest is: fill both
If your single largest is more than about a fifth of everything, losing them would hurt badly, and that is a resilience risk to carry into your continuity planning alongside your fundraising plan.
Your top three are: fill both
If the top three are more than a third of everything, your base is thin under the top, and diversification belongs in your plan.
