Board Onboarding Kit.

Give a new member what they need to govern in months instead of years, so every addition strengthens the board.

What every new member gets, on arrival

ItemReady?
The mission, in the board's own words, and the current priorities
The board's job and the governing-managing line (the Partnership Agreement)
The last year of financials and the current budget, with someone to walk them through it
The bylaws and the board's own policies
A who-is-who: board, officers, executive, and how they work together
What is expected of them: give, get, govern, and time

The first ninety days

The test: a new member should be able to ask a real governing question by their second or third meeting. If they are still just listening after six months, the onboarding failed.
