Catch new-hire problems while they are small, because most early departures are preventable and prevented by actually asking.
At thirty, sixty, and ninety days, a short, honest conversation. Use one column per check-in.
| Question | 30 days | 60 days | 90 days |
|---|---|---|---|
| How is it going, really? | |||
| Is the role what you expected? | |||
| What do you need that you are not getting? | |||
| Here is how I see you doing so far, plainly and fairly | |||
| Anything we should fix now, and what I will adjust |
This is the part everyone skips and the part that saves the hire. Thirty minutes three times is far cheaper than replacing someone who left because no one checked. If ninety days shows a genuine wrong fit, that becomes a performance conversation in Manage Performance, done fairly.
